New EP, the 4 track sampler of the new album Glacier (out Spring 2022); simply called “Glaciers EP” will be out tonight at midnight, 11:59pm April 14, officially releasing April 15, 2022.

The EP is based on imagery of the glaciers and mountains of the Canadian Rockies and other peaks. The album is IDM and ambient, as musical styles, but also is experimental and defies genres, except in that is it an Electronica release. As a social commentary, it is a statement on climate change.

A brief synopsis of the tracks:

1. “Conscious Lush”: A virtual synth track, with processing and modulation.
2. “Glacier”: Performed live with guitar, bass, an AKAI drum machine, old Alesis synth, Microkorg. The mixed.
3. “Sediments”: Another virtual synth track, with additional mixing within a various micro synthesis.
4. “Doors of Perception”: And old virtual piano, with synth modulation.

“ZODIAX FACTS” is the 5th album by Toronto’s Lexic Task. It follows suite in the vein of IDM / Ambient 3rd album, “ADRIFT” (April, 2021). ZODIAX FACTS is a 14 track excursion of IDM electronica into sound synthesis, complex rhythm tracks and sonic exploration through soundscapes via synthesizers, modular synths, programming, soft synths, and drum machines. The album was releasing Feb 11, 2021, now the release date is March 1, 2022. Mark your digital calendars!

Furthermore, I would say the album encompasses the merging of analog gear, in the old school way, with digital synthesis and music production. The album production is an artform in itself, with the use of software, but also analog synths and drum machines, so using the studio as an instrument. The album encompasses the zeitgeist or feel of an ever-changing world, and both the pros and cons of such change. The album releases March 1st, 2022.

“Adrift” is the second full length album by Lexic Task (aka Toronto’s Matt Kay). Some tracks are archival, started in 2016, some are new tracks. The album explores Matt’s influences, from more popular acts such as Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Plaid, Nathan Fake, to more underground artists such as LFM, Legion of Green Men, and more.

The Tracks on adrift range from the main electronica sound, to some glitch beats (“Mammals”); to pure ambient and synth soundscapes (“Moonlit River”, “Solemn Space”). The album starts off and veers towards a climax, to a more serious tone in the later half of the album. Overall, the whole album is an excursion into exploring Synthwave and IDM.

So lately I’ve been compiling some of my older, even semi-finished tracks from way back in the day, primarily started out with more repetitive production. This can be heard in the tracks I have presented recently on Soundcloud, from my initial production era of 2007-2011. After that I had honed my music production craft and started branching out more with on my melodic side. Most of these tracks are just experimental electronica, some have an electro-pop leaning, and some are ambient. I make music for my own expression. You can hear some of those older tracks on this Soundcloud Playlist. (Thanks for listening, more NEW music also on the way).

Question: well, first off, thanks for listening to the new stuff. Revizal 1 charted #8 on iTunes Electronic Canada chart. So here’s my question:
Would you like to see more of the same fare, the Revizal EP type stuff, more serious and dark in nature and tone?
During the “Memories” (debut album) sessions in 2019-2020, some tracks were left out. And during this pandemic, spending a lot of time inside, I had worked on a few more tracks. And also as a return to the more lighthearted vibe of “Memories”, perhaps it’s time for those other “new” tracks to be released. Either way, I hope you share some of your thoughts and enjoy listening. Thank you.
