Glaciers EP – 1 year anniversary

One year ago-today, I released my most experimental (at the time) set of tracks, an mainly ambient “Glaciers EP”. It was leftfield, ambient techno, and an emotional experiment. With sulking melodies, awash with bold pads and synthesizer patches, albeit the track “Glacier”. It contains 4 tracks which mean a lot to me. The track Glacier was actually a live experiment, comp’d and mixed afterwards, and included an AKAI drum machine live, the Microkorg synth, bass patches and more, all improvised. It was tracked back in 2011. I then compiled more recent recordings, and mixed my tracks into a 4 song set, that is quite emotionally presented on tape. It is an excursion into soul-searching, yet grounded. Here it is on any platform, officially was released April 15, 2022. The concept of the Glaciers, a pressing world issue on climate change, and realistically, about ever-changing landscapes. Artwork by a friend from B.C., Canada.

Excerpt from Facebook post: About 1 year ago, released the “Glaciers EP”, a 4 track sonic excursion and musical adventure. Though a bit serious and sombre in tone, it includes “Glacier”, mixed with guitar effects, bass, Microkorg Synth and The Akai XR20 drum machine, plus 3 other soft synth soundscapes, with granular sound design and editing. It was musically inspired by Autechre, Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Plaid, and other artists. Here is the blog post, includes a link to stream it or buy it on any platform you wish, Soundcloud, Apple, iTunes, Beatport, Youtube, Soundcloud. Enjoy it as much as I did making it!

New IDM Album “Polarization”

Hey all,

So many years ago, before “Memories” came out in 2020, I was working on more experimental tracks, dubbed the album “Polarization”. So here are 11 of those tracks, a bit more #breakcore, #IDM, #exprimental, and more like Ambient Techno. So the tracks are a bit more serious in tone, and albeit darker, all produced during 2013-2017. So here is the result. There are a few other tracks that I haven’t had the urge to release yet, but this is “Polarization”. 11 tracks. Listen on Bandcamp Exclusively, for now below, and grab the Bandcamp codes from this page here (Samplers).

Mastering Services by Matt K

Mastering services now available on Soundbetter.com!

I have honed my craft in digitally mastering songs over the years. From first learning to play guitar, synth, piano, and more, I first learned to actually play music. Then came the studio days. To becoming a professional mixing engineer, I decided over a decade ago I wanted to build my own studio to record and mix/produce my own music. And over the past decade, I have also been mentored by colleagues, I have honed the craft of mastering. Some of my tracks have been featured on Spotify Editorial Playlists, with my own production and mastering work, plus have now generated over 500,000 streams on Spotify, Pandora, Soundcloud, and the like. If you’d like a chance at having your song professionally mastered, and you’re on a budget, reach out to me at the links below. I look forward to working with you!

(Taken from my Soundbetter profile:) Budget Mastering, however (even though) my mastering work has had tracks featured on Spotify Editorial Playlists, and has generated over 650K streams so far across Spotify, Apple, Soundcloud, Pandora, Youtube, etc!

On a budget but need to sound your best? I have worked as an audio engineer and musician for most of my adult life, and for the better part of a decade, have mastered tracks that have generated over 650,000 streams on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, iTunes, Youtube, Soundcloud, and many more platforms (DSPs) and a few of my tracks have been featured on Spotify Editorial Playlists!

I pay attention to detail and use a digital mastering process that adheres to the tone and feel of the track. For rock songs, need it louder and to have more punch? For EDM tracks, need that pulsating beat and bass to bring out the track feel? For calm ambient pieces, need more dynamic range to be at the forefront?

I will ensure your mastered track sounds its best. I will even email some info on how to best promote your tracks!

Glimpses radio (Spotify)

On a late night, I managed to just drift off with this playlist. It’s based on tracks the Spotify logarithm recommends based on audio characteristics, stats, data and other info and queues these tracks by some of my peers (who are doing quite well) as their tracks play after my 17-track album “Glimpses of the Endless Sky”. So I’ve appropriately titled it “Glimpses Radio”. Here it is. Give it a like, follow, and share to do your part. The tracks are an electronic music genre playlist, with styles like ambient techno, IDM dance, tech house, deep house, downtempo and the like. Tracks showcase some of my peers widely being appreciated. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6gnrhqLtN6Aq59ZvkXwxuY?si=0e48953ca5894e43

New Album “Glimpses of The Endless Sky” out Oct 8.

New 17-track album “Glimpses of The Endless Sky” is out October 8th, 2022! It is honestly a glimpse into my music career thus far, musically. It engages the listener on a journey, a sonic adventure. More optimistic in tone, the album features my liveliest and adventurous tracks yet. Musically, the album harkens back to my debut album, “Memories” (Oct 2020). Through the use of programming, software, drum machines, and out right synthesizer production, the album features tracks more in a pure electronica style, although still features piano and even some guitar on a few tracks within. With a brighter outlook, the album nature is about relief, and getting past the tougher times of the past.

From my bandcamp:

A 17 track excursion of more optimistic tones, a bit of return to the fare of debut 2020 album “Memories”. Found here are adventurous tracks stemming from EDM, IDM, ambient, ambient techno, house and simply, electronica. The album includes the use of drum programming, synthesizers and digital synthesis, with spare piano. Over all a synth-based album, the music here can appeal just about to anyone.
