Lexic Task is the primary music project of Toronto’s Matthew Kay, music producer, composer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A musician proficient in synthesizers (modular and soft synths), drum machines, guitar, bass, piano, keyboards and various other instruments. With music that has been acclaimed and praised by critics and appreciated by fans around the world, primarily in the electronica, ambient, experimental, post-rock and IDM music scene, nearly all of his releases have entered the top iTunes Electronic Canada charts and Beatport Top 100. As well, his tracks have been featured on Discovery Channel, MTV, as well as thousands of radio stations and TV commercial spots. He has worked with Dave B (engineer for Radiohead) on mastering a few songs from his debut album, 2020’s “Memories”. Lexic Task has amassed over 650,000 streams across platforms thus far, since 2010. He is working on more new music at any given time, recording and mixing new tracks to add to his total of over 14 released albums, and 262 released tracks thus far. He also records as side-project ouveure, releasing post-rock, ambient and experimental music focusing on guitars and piano pieces. His latest “Inertia” is a collection of longer ambient music. His latest post-rock album, “Higher Resignations” is a collaboration between “ouveure”, featuring “Lexic Task” which adds to his experimental touch, resulting in some of Matt’s most ambitious music to date. Lexic Task focuses on merging synthesis, with organic instrumentation. As producer, Matthew likes to experiment in the studio, be it with Virtual instruments, digital synthesis, or be it while Mastering his own tracks.
